Hyderabad → New Zealand · drag to spin the globe
New Zealand is a long way from Hyderabad, but parcels to Auckland and Wellington are routine for us. New Zealand has some of the strictest biosecurity rules in the world, so food and natural items need extra care.

What you can send to New Zealand
- Clothes, sarees and gifts
- Commercially packed food and spices (declared)
- Documents and certificates
- Household goods as cargo
Small parcels go by courier; big, heavy or many boxes can go as cargo. Our heaviest shipment so far was over 1,600 kg. Not sure which suits you? Read courier vs cargo.
New Zealand rules to know before you pack
Biosecurity checks every parcel
New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) checks mail and courier parcels for risk goods. Fresh fruit and vegetables, seeds, meat, plants and soil are the usual problems.
Declare all food
List every food item clearly. Commercially packed, labelled food is easier to clear than homemade food. Undeclared food can be seized.
Wooden and natural items
Wooden handicrafts, cane, straw and similar natural items can be inspected or treated. Make sure they are clean and dry.
GST and duty may apply
New Zealand Customs may charge GST and duty on parcels above certain values. The receiver may need to pay before delivery.
Documents needed
- Your ID proof (KYC): a copy of your Aadhaar, passport or PAN card. Courier exports from India are declared electronically under CBIC’s courier regulations, and the sender’s identity is part of that declaration.
- Contents list: every item with quantity and a fair value, for example “3 cotton kurtas” or “1 kg mango pickle, homemade”. Mark gifts as gifts.
- Receiver’s details: full name, street address, suburb, city, 4-digit postcode and a New Zealand phone number.
- Business shipments: a commercial invoice, plus the exporter’s IEC and GST details where they apply.

Packing tips for New Zealand
- Use a strong, right-sized carton. A box that is too big adds volumetric weight.
- Seal jars with cling film under the lid, tape the lid, then double-bag each jar in zip-lock bags.
- Vacuum-seal or double-bag sweets, snacks and spices so smells and oil stay inside.
- Wrap fragile items separately and fill every gap so nothing moves.
- Write the receiver’s address and phone clearly, and put a copy inside the box.

Items you cannot send
Every carrier and country keeps its own list, but these are refused almost everywhere:
- Cash, currency, cheques and precious metals
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks
- Flammable items: lighters, matches, fuel, paints, many aerosols and perfumes
- Loose lithium batteries and e-cigarettes
- Narcotics and any medicine not checked with us first
- Counterfeit goods and anything illegal in New Zealand
Medicines have special rules: read sending medicines abroad.
How the price works
We do not publish a fixed rate card because carrier rates change. The courier price to New Zealand depends on the carrier and the chargeable weight: whichever is higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is length × width × height (cm) ÷ 5000. For example, a 50 × 54 × 34 cm box has a volumetric weight of 18.36 kg, even if it weighs less on the scale. Try your box:
Send us the weight, box size and contents on WhatsApp and we will share today’s price for New Zealand.
