Italy rules to know before you pack
No meat or dairy
The European Commission says personal consignments of meat and dairy products from non-EU countries are not allowed.
Codice fiscale
Couriers clearing parcels into Italy often ask for the receiver’s codice fiscale (Italian tax code). Keep it ready to avoid delays.
Import VAT
Parcels from outside the EU go through Italian Customs (ADM), and import VAT can apply to almost any value.
Full address
Include the street, house number, CAP (5-digit postcode), city and province code (for example MI for Milan).
Documents needed
- Your ID proof (KYC): a copy of your Aadhaar, passport or PAN card. Courier exports from India are declared electronically under CBIC’s courier regulations, and the sender’s identity is part of that declaration.
- Contents list: every item with quantity and a fair value, for example “3 cotton kurtas” or “1 kg mango pickle, homemade”. Mark gifts as gifts.
- Receiver’s details: full name, street and house number, CAP (5-digit postcode), city, province code, phone number and the codice fiscale.
- Business shipments: a commercial invoice, plus the exporter’s IEC and GST details where they apply.

Packing tips for Italy
- Use a strong, right-sized carton. A box that is too big adds volumetric weight.
- Seal jars with cling film under the lid, tape the lid, then double-bag each jar in zip-lock bags.
- Vacuum-seal or double-bag sweets, snacks and spices so smells and oil stay inside.
- Wrap fragile items separately and fill every gap so nothing moves.
- Write the receiver’s address and phone clearly, and put a copy inside the box.

Items you cannot send
Every carrier and country keeps its own list, but these are refused almost everywhere:
- Cash, currency, cheques and precious metals
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks
- Flammable items: lighters, matches, fuel, paints, many aerosols and perfumes
- Loose lithium batteries and e-cigarettes
- Narcotics and any medicine not checked with us first
- Counterfeit goods and anything illegal in Italy
Medicines have special rules: read sending medicines abroad.
How the price works
We do not publish a fixed rate card because carrier rates change. The courier price to Italy depends on the carrier and the chargeable weight: whichever is higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is length × width × height (cm) ÷ 5000. For example, a 50 × 54 × 34 cm box has a volumetric weight of 18.36 kg, even if it weighs less on the scale. Try your box:
Send us the weight, box size and contents on WhatsApp and we will share today’s price for Italy.

How do I send a courier from Hyderabad to Italy?
Send us a WhatsApp message on +91 80745 34299 with what you are sending, the approximate weight or box size and the receiver’s city in Italy. We share the price and options, then pick up from your home in Hyderabad or you can drop the parcel at our shop in Edi Bazaar (open 10 AM – 11 PM, every day).
Can I send food or pickles to Italy?
The European Union does not allow personal parcels of meat or dairy products from non-EU countries such as India. That rules out chicken, mutton and prawn pickles, ghee, paneer and khoya-based sweets. Veg pickles, spices, dry snacks and packed sweets without dairy are the safer choice; tell us exactly what is inside.
What details do I need for the receiver in Italy?
The receiver’s full name, street and house number, CAP (5-digit postcode), city, province code, phone number and the codice fiscale. Along with this we need your ID proof (Aadhaar, passport or PAN) and a list of the items with their values.
How is the courier price to Italy calculated?
The price depends on the destination, the carrier and the chargeable weight. Carriers charge whichever is higher: the actual weight or the volumetric weight (length × width × height in cm ÷ 5000). Send us the weight and box size on WhatsApp for today’s price.
What is the codice fiscale and why is it needed?
It is the Italian tax code every resident has. Couriers often need it to clear a parcel through Italian customs, so ask your receiver for it before we book.

We book through international networks such as DHL, FedEx, Aramex, UPS and Atlantic, choosing the option that suits your parcel and destination. You get a tracking number, and you can track it on our website.
